Minas Farm Venue, Haenertsburg

Megan + Jan

Megan and Jan's wedding day began the way many mornings do in the Haenertsburg mountains, wrapped in mist, with soft rain and grey skies. But just as the ceremony began, and Megan's brother started playing O Heer my God on the trekklavier, the clouds slowly drifted apart and the sunshine made its quiet appearance. It honestly felt like the day had been waiting for that very moment.

What I loved most, though, wasn't the weather. ( will always love a rainy wedding day) It was how unapologetically them every part of the day was.

From the hand-drawn self-portrait guest book to the seating chart built around their favourite craft beers, every little detail reflected who they are, their creativity, their sense of humour, and the things they genuinely love. Nothing felt like it had been copied from Pinterest because it was "what you're supposed to do." Instead, every choice told a little piece of their story.

The incredible food, the wilde flowers, the guests who celebrated with their whole hearts, and even the wonderful hair and makeup team all became part of the magic. The day felt relaxed, joyful, and wonderfully unfiltered. It was less about putting on a perfect wedding and more about bringing together the people they love most to celebrate the start of their marriage.

Those are the weddings I'll always have a soft spot for.

The ones where couples aren't afraid to do things differently. Where traditions take a back seat to personality. Where laughter is louder than perfection, and the day feels like a true reflection of the two people at the centre of it all.

They're the kind of weddings that stay with me long after I've packed up my cameras, and I'm so incredibly grateful that Megan and Jan trusted me to tell their story.
